Ancient Things

Finishing off my series of these ammonite fossil paintings, I have created three small 8 x 6 inch watercolours and then mounted and framed them together to form a triptych. I think this would brighten up any bathroom or cloakroom.

Fairly quick to create, the above painting is based on a cross sectioned and polished ammonite fossil. The painting below is a section of the fossil shell which, when it gets to this condition is called 'Dragon Skin'. I've added a couple of spiral shell fossils for a change of shape.

The final painting represents another ammonite with a stylised abalone shell too.
