Power Nap

For this painting I wanted to concentrate on contrasting light and shadow as the great beast sleeps drenched in sunlight atop the boulder. Not necessarily the usual habitat for lion, the reference photograph, downloaded from the Wetcanvas reference library, was taken at the zoo. I like the angle of view though. This is a largish watercolour, measuring 15.5 x 22 inches plus frame and mount to a total size of 30 x 23 inches available for sale on the Mighty Fine Art website

He's absolutely magnificent.
He reminds me of Aslan.

Absolutely heartstopping. Every time I see one of your paintings for the first time, I have such a shock of joy at another vision of the truly magnificent in Nature.
Thank you!
