The Gift

Sorry no, it's not a giveaway offer. It's the title of my new painting.

Having been savaged by a dog yesterday I wasn't sure I'd be able to finish it today, however I'm pleased to say that my wound to my wrist is healing up OK if still a little sore and bruised, so I knuckled down and got it finished this morning.

Two of my favorite Western artists are James Bama and Howard Terpning and both have influenced my style of painting quite a bit, even though they both paint predominantly in oils. So a little bit looser than Bama but a little more detailed than Terpning, here is my latest effort.
I haven't painted a 'Western' genre painting for quite some time but, having nearly sold out of them lately, I though I'd do another and thoroughly enjoyed doing it.

Here's a closer look at the girl...
...and the pony
As can be seen, I've used a little of the 'clingfilm' effect and also put in a few salt crystals to give a little more interest around the ground area, but kept it fairly simple and unfussy which is the effect I wanted.

This is 22 x 15.5 inches, watercolour on paper and is now for sale on  the Mighty Fine Art website.
