Last Chance To See.....work in progress part 4

A little more progress today, I think this is going to take longer than I thought as there is a Grand Prix to watch this weekend but still, what's the rush. I'm happy with the nose and got going on the whiskers but they're not as bright as I would have liked. I may be able to lighten them up a bit, we'll see.

Its looking great ...

I've just found that we have a rare species conservation centre fairly close to us (in Sandwich, Kent). It isn't well publicized but I'm going to pay a visit this afternoon to check it out and hopefully get some photos to work from in the future.

The Grand Prix will be recorded so we can watch it this evening. I used to live/work in Singapore but haven't been back in 15 years so no doubt much of it would be unrecognisable - they've demolished all the interesting old riverside buildings and 'sanitised' everything. Too much concrete!!

Hi Sue. Good luck at the conservation centre. I must make the effort to get out like that and shoot more of my own photographs instead of having to keep plundering reference libraries. Trouble is my photography is a bit hit and miss, more often than not I get nothing worth keeping.

My photography is the same :o)

I'm a member of the UKCPS and enter their annual competitions and exhibitions. From last year their entry Rules specify that all work must be entirely the concept of the artist - including any reference photos .. so needs must! More and more exhibitions/competitions are specifying that artists can only base their paintings/drawings on reference photos taken by themselves so as I can't afford to take regular safari holidays (!) I'm having to visit zoos. Not ideal as animals are normally behind glass or big fences!
