Heart Of Africa

Well, this has been a bit of a labour of love, taking many hours to complete. It was the trees to the right which took the most time and I'm still not 100% happy with how they turned out. At 22 x 15 inches this is quite large, drawn with graphite pencils onto Stonehenge paper, from a photograph by and with kind permission of Billy Dodson of Savannah Images I really love the infra-red style of monochrome photography which gives a magical quality to dramatic skies and landscapes and which lends itself well to being in some way re-produced with pencil or charcoal.

Next Saturday I have a small show featuring my African wildlife art, at a local business called 'Wild About Birds' to help promote the opening of their new crafts and Fair Trade shop on the premises at Theberton. So I'll be getting this one framed up tomorrow and take it along there.
